Everything was set on arrival. We had a nice stay in a very quiet neighbourhood. Maybe a bit to far if you would not have a car.
The house could already do with an update. Especially the kitchen, or rather the equipment. The frying pan for example was really in a horrible state.
Some people might like the electricity meter, but I found it a bit creepy, as if we were watched...
Another item that clearly needs a change is the mattress. It was way to soft and we could feel the bottom of the bed. One of us moved to the sofa for a better support...
We really enjoyed our stay. It was so nice to come back to this cozy house after long days sightseeing in the surrounding area. We also enjoyed several walks around Thrumster.
Cosy little cottage in a quiet and scenic area.
The host , Cath, left us a welcome cake and some Lindor which was lovely.
Tea, coffee and a small milk was also provided which was really sweet and much appreciated.
The cottage is lovely and clean, and very warm. It was a bit too warm on arrival , we messaged Cath and she very promptly adjusted the heating for us.
There are some books and DVDs, as well as freeview TV for windy and wet days.
The cottage is close to Wick where there are some shops and super markets, and is also close by to some scenic walks , and areas of interest such as castles and cairns.
We loved the peace and quiet and the locals are friendly .
Cath was an amazing host and shared some tips about seeing the Northern Lights and also shared a photo of them she had taken.
Thanks Cath !
Convenient location as a base to visit/see landmarks in the area. Very clean and everything you needed including a utility room with washing, dryer and a freezer. Very grateful to have toilet paper, washing up liquid, tea, coffee provided plus some milk and a cake as part of a welcome pack. Strange scenario regarding heating where the owner controls it remotely, but we worked it out eventually. The outside of the house is not very attractive, but it is in keeping with the area.
The cottage is very clean, tidy and in a quiet area which served as a great base so you can explore caithness.
Cath the owner is only a phone call away with any help you might require but very doubtful you'll need it. Great place....
This is a great place to stay to explore the top of Scotland. You can also walk from here to the coast, and link up to the JohnOâ Groats trail, or just the joy the local bay and seals.
Only half an hour from Gills Bay for the fast ferry to the Orkneys too.
Very friendly host
Stayed at Caths property in Thrumster, Wick and was great, the cottage was just what you needed, clean, warm, cosy and beautifully furnished. The scenery was amazing and Cath really does go the extra mile to make you feel welcome, highly recommend and will defentilty be back.
My Girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay at greenfield cottage, Cathy the owner was great, as I had mixed up my dates and arrived early, but was still able to accommodate us! The cottage was great, and immaculately clean! It had everything we could ever need, and the cakes, tea, coffee and milk are a great touch! Will definetly be recommending to friends and family! My parents are already looking at dates to book!
Great little cottage with everything you will need as a base to explore the highlands, bed was amazing, very comfortable, kitchen equipped with most things you will need.
Tea, coffee, sugar, milk and even a cake was provided on our arrival, a great gesture from the owner.
Great quiet street with the only thing you can hear is the sheep, so many things to do within driving distance and a great little hideaway within walking distance down to the little harbour at Sarclet.
The price was very very reasonable for the week, the cheapest for miles and a great bargain price.
For us visiting friends in the area Greenfield Cottage is ideal. Catherine is a very helpful property owner. The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived on a wintry February night. The cakes, biscuits and milk were useful and enjoyed, thank you. Slept very well, it is quiet and the bed very comfortable.
When coming in at 16-00 and a rainy day the heating didn't come on till 17-45 and we had no control of the heating and the house was very cold and no heating in the morning it is unacceptable that you should have to contact the owner to control the heating, we are not children we are responsible adults.
Very good property for a couple visiting Caithness area
Property has a well presented interior. The bed has a comfortable mattress and good linen is used. Well kitted out kitchen if you want to cook. Milk, tea, coffee and sugar provided together with some welcome cakes. The owner controls the heating with a phoneApp, we did not need to text her to alter the heating. We thought it was good value and found the property ideal as a base for visiting friends nearby. Handy for the A99 road and very quiet at night.
We had a great stay at Cath's apartment! Everything was well thought through, she even left us flowers, pastries and milk! The location is great for visiting the many things that Caithness and Sutherland have to offer. We did a nice tour through the countryside, driving down to Helmsdale and up to Thurso via the single track roads. We also visited the Whaligoe Steps, Old Wick Castle, Girnigoe Castle, Duncansby Head and Dunnet Head. All beautiful sites, and you can get a lot of inspiration from all the information leaflets that are provided in the house. We can really recommend this place!
