Okay, but….
We arranged this family reunion stay from a distance and chose the location to be near a relative who can’t travel. We were a large group (11) and didn’t have many options. Communication with the host was friendly, quick, and helpful. She was very nice. The house was a disappointment. It looked pleasant from the front. It had parking for 3 cars, but the back was a bit like a junk yard. The inside was furnished with a hodge-lodge of items. The beds were very low to the ground (difficult for older people). Two flat, backless benches covered with sheets served as a couch. Torn fabric hung as kitchen curtains over a sink coated with a peculiar substance (paint?). The kitchen cabinets were sticky. The appliances had warnings posted about their use. We bought paper/plastic/aluminum to avoid using the kitchenware. Although we were expected to remove shoes in the front hall (and did so), our socks and feet quickly became very dirty from walking on the floor. Bathrooms were generally fine. Curtains throughout the bedrooms were mismatched and hanging from bent rods. An old sheet covered a sofa on the front porch by a dirty ashtray. I don’t want to leave an unkind review. We were very glad to be together in the area where we needed to be, and we appreciated Alice’s responsive communication, but in our opinion, this place could use a little spiff-up to make the inside (and back yard) better match the outside front. It served our need, but the overall feeling was “Ick.”
