Staff, website, and email/texts weren't forthcoming with information. I checked in online before getting there, and was given room info, but no details on how to enter or what to do when I got there. They have a video doorbell to connect with a front desk (of sorts). They confirmed that I had checked in but ended the call without telling me how to get in. All the doors to the room areas areas and restrooms were covered behind curtains, and the signage (laminated 8.5x11 sheets) wasn't very noticeable, especially at night and there wasn't anyone to explain what to do or where to go and talking isn't encouraged. The bathroom(s?) were terrible. For a floor of 50 rooms there was one, small toilet stall. It smelled from the fumes coming up from the shower drains. There was always a few centimeters of water on the floor from the showers. The knobs on everything were loose. The rooms all have thin walls and open ceilings so noise and light travel easily. The mattress is covered, but no sheets otherwise. There was a small blanket and at least a pillowcase on the pillow. The beds are small, but I'm short enough that that wasn't an issue. The mattress itself seemed fine. The room itself was clean, thankfully. The door lock didn't inspire much trust. The lounge area looks nice. The location was good and there is easy metro access; that's the best thing. No real information was given about check-out either. There might be a roof deck? I noticed a flyer after checking out.

The only nice thing are the common areas. When you go to the rooms is unavailable what they did. The rooms are located in a big area and they've cramped probably 50 rooms in there. The rooms don't have a roof, the only thing separating one bed from the other is a wood "wall", but there is a shared roof so you can quite literally hear EVERYTHING. I could hear people snoring so loud and clear as if we were sleeping in the same bed. I could hear every conversation, all the cars and noise from outside. I remember hearing the keyboard of the girl typing on her computer in the room next to mine. Also there are no sheets, just the one covering the matters and a tiny blanket. And mind you, if I had pay $50 for this I won't be complaining. But I payed $140 a night

As NY hotel prices increase, this hostel also increases the price. But appreciate to provide relatively low price for accommodation. But the hostel is very cold and there is only one thin blanket available. Recommend to bring my own blanket or warmer clothes for next time.

I booked this property after seeing some reviews and was partially weary but seeing photos and regarding most reviews were good i went ahead and booked it. Communication when i got there was great and i was able to store my luggage before my check in time. Once i had checked in and settled (which was extremely difficult) i tried to go to sleep but the noise and disruption in this place is absolutely awful ! i could hear banging on the wall and chatting and shouting and screaming and people in and out of rooms and on phone calls all throughout the night. I partially expected this seeing as it was a hostile but the environment in this place was horrible it just wasn’t pleasant. On my second night it was just worse, one of the guests was making the most unnecessary noises from around 1am until 5am and i could hear a few other guests were kept awake by this noise. Afterwards i then hear this same lady shouting what was basically abuse at one of the cleaning ladies stating how she had used the bathroom while she was trying to shower ( the toilets are stalls and showers are on the other side of the bathroom) she then starts screaming and shouting which was an absolute disgrace considering a whole floor of people were trying to sleep! i had to check out a day early and loose one nights worth of money as i simply had no sleep at all those 2 nights and had no sympathy whatsoever from the hostile! no apology or anything! If your ever looking to stay somewhere in NYC don’t stay here !

the room was clean. but if you like to sleep don't come here. you hear everyone sleeping. police sirens, people screaming outside or people trying to get into their rooms.

This was my first hostel stay and an accidental booking (yess fate), but I had an incredible time. The staff are very pleasant and the rooms are small but with a comfy bed; the linens also come ACTUALLY clean so that's a plus. The rooftop is lovely. The lobby is adorable. The hangout rooms upstairs (especially the 3rd floor) have very comfortable couches. The check in process is also very swift and neat. And don't forget the complimentary luggage storage makes up for the small rooms. Do not leave your body wash in the shared shower-- another resident will take it.

The beds are of course really short, but that was no surprise, and could use another shelf in the pod rooms, but the shared bathrooms were clean and adequate. The communal space was nice with antiques and furniture, little kitchen was nice. If I stayed more than just two night I would buy some WD40 to lubricate the hinges on the ladies room door across from room 6. Quiet hinges on those doors is an easy fix and would cut down on excess noises. But it was pretty quiet , otherwise.

1st time visiting and loved the experience. The rooms and rest of the building were clean and quiet. Loved this part; everyone played their part. The decor of the common area is a delight. A lot of restaurants and shopping around the area. Multiple train stations as well. Just perfect place to stay!

Bathroom, especially female shower so moldy smell, and even private cabins so loud as guests are not concern how they open and shut the door just so loud with no respect a feet away from her another person may suffer for headache or trying to sleep!
