We had a fantastic Thanksgiving at Smith Mountain Lake thanks to this fantastic rental. The house was clean, the kitchen was well stocked (even for a Thanksgiving meal), and the amenities were a big hit with our younger crowd (hot tub, huge tv for watching football near a pool table, state park close by for hiking). Highly recommend!!

Annual Guys Weekend
4 guys over 50 years old who have been friends for years meet once per year at a lake somewhere. Drift Away was a wonderful home and is in a great location. We enjoyed the pool table, the poker chips and cards, and the outdoor porch big screen TV for the football games. Everything was in great shape and good working order. It’s also far enough from town to feel a little secluded while being close enough to a local winery and restaurant for something to do.

Perfect multi-generation family vacation
This property was stress-free from start to finish! We easily checked into a very clean home. There was room for our two families with young children to be on the top and bottom floors with the older generation in the middle. Noise did not carry between floors! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare and serve meals for a crowd. Everything in the home worked as advertised. There was plenty of room to spread out and relax in large or small groups. The kids loved to watch all the deer, birds, and squirrels that traveled through the yard. We had one glitch with the cable (probably due to wind) and our host got right on it, solving the issue quickly. The check-out list was simple and easy. But most importantly, the house is on the Ice Cream Boat's route! We are already looking to book with this same host next year. If there was a downside, it'd be that the dock might be a challenge for first-time boat renters. The house is far into an inlet and you need to back the boat away from the dock in a tight area.

Perfect Getaway
This place was absolutely immaculate when we arrived! Beautifully modern with plently of space for the 10 of us to stay. The lake was just steps away and it was very quiet in our little inlet. The house came well supplied with all the extra kitches appliances you could need and plently of plates/bowls/utensils. We wish we could've stayed longer! Highly recommend renting this property for your next getaway!

Wonderful stay
This is a beautiful home and my family had a wonderful, relaxing week here. The staff was responsive and friendly (upon check-in, we needed more pillowcases and the staff brought them immediately). The dock did not have a floating dock as stated in the home's description, which made it impossible to have our older family members get on our rental boat at the dock; instead we had to meet them at the boat rental facility and have them board the boat there. That was a bit of an inconvenience that we weren't expecting that could have been avoided if the description was accurate. Also, the handrail on the stairs to the dock was great but it stops with about 12 stairs to go -- would be great if it went all the way to the dock! Thank you again for a lovely stay.

We all really enjoyed our self inside and outside the house. The house is very spacious with great accommodations! I do have one suggestion: It would be nice to have steps off the driveway connected to the existing outside steps going to the Dock. It would be more convenient to carry coolers, water toys, Kayaks, ETC.

Many of us came into town for a graduation and stayed at DriftAway Ridge. It was absolutely the best decision. Everything was perfect and was the cherry on top of our weekend. Everyone wished we could’ve stayed one more day. From the beautiful lake, comfortable beds, great porch, large rooms, rec areas, large kitchen and multiple full bathrooms - what’s not to like. It is an amazing place and you will be happy you stayed here.

The house was absolutely beautiful!! Have not stayed and a house with a well stocked kitchen until this house. We also lived the outdoor space. It was perfect for our annual girls trip. If you are looking for a nice place pick this one. Would definitely come back to this house.

What A Way To Celebrate a Birthday!
The weekend was absolutely beautiful from the weather, the amazing outdoor area, a fully stocked kitchen. We celebrated with good friends and enjoyed all the amenities the home offered, pool table, corn hole, hot tub and the outdoor fireplaces. The home was very clean and the beds were so comfortable. Perfect for Wedding Party
We loved this place! It was a perfect location for our wedding party to stay at around the wedding day. Loved all the bedrooms and bathrooms, with tons to do and very homey. The only downside was missing toilet paper and when we reached out to the recommended individuals about it, we didn't hear anything back. Not a huge deal because we had family local and there are stores to buy from but lucky that everything else was perfect!

The house was comfortable, cozy, and very clean. Great amenities for all ages to enjoy. The views were spectacular with plentiful outdoor spaces. Easy access to the dock from the house to enjoy sunbathing, paddle boarding, and enjoying the lake. A great time was had by all!

First visit to Smith Mountain
We had a family of 9 all adults and the house was perfect. Everything was very clean the beds were comfortable. The walk to the dock wasn’t far. We rented a boat for a few days. The hot tub was so nice so was the game room. We were so happy with everything we can’t wait to come back!
