„It's a very historic site. It needs a little updating. The food and service at Darby's Tavern and at the Mansion was very good, but their air conditioning was way too cold. The complementary breakfast was good too. There is not a lot to do in the area. There are some good eating places in South Boston. Overall, it's a good place to relax.“

„The room we stayed in needs a GOOD deep cleaning, but the lobby & breakfast area were nice & clean. The lady that checked us in was a little short, she didn't tell us about breakfast or checkout time, and I had to ask about how to access the room. The two ladies in the morning both at the desk & taking care of breakfast were very pleasant. We stayed there due to the closeness to the racetrack.“

„So i was given room 100 which is designated as a handicapped room. What if someone had come in and needed it? Secondly do post pictureed of the breakfast room online. „Cindy was very thoughtful throughout our stay. The property was great and everything we needed and more. We asked about a grill before our arrival and she replied that she was sorry and they didn’t have one. However, about a couple hours later she told me she purchased a grill and supplies for us to use! I’ve stayed at many properties before and this is definitely in my top 3 due to the hosts attentiveness and thoughtfulness. Recommend 10/10! “

There was plenty of room indoors for large groups, along with great outdoor space plus a large enough table for everyone to eat at the same time. „Everything was just as described. We like low key, hang at a house, fish, and play table games type places and this was perfect. Felt secluded, but town is close if you need anything and the little section of the lake was so peaceful! Fans were nice outside on the covered porch and the dock/pontoon was good for 4 people to fish off of. Only 1 1/2 hrs from Raleigh, which was a plus since family was coming up from State. GO PACK!“
