I was excited for this trip as a visit to Maine was very high on my “States to visit list” list and last one of the lower 48.
The town of Lubec was perfect for us. Lubec acted as a hub for us to explore many different areas of the state and Canada. We were easily able to visit and enjoy both of the more heavily visited areas of St. Andrew and Bar Harbor while still being able to escape the crowds when we wanted to. Acadia National Park was easily accessible and enjoyable. We especially like Cadillac Mountain and Jordan Pond.
Lubec itself was quiet, beautiful, walkable, and delightfully fresh to us. The people were the best part. All of our encounters were with kind and helpful people, even the Customs Border Patrol agents who detained me while checking to be sure I wasn’t who they were looking for. Comforting to know our borders are so well protected.
By the way, this app is terrible for writing reviews. After the first few lines, my writing drops out of the box and becomes invisible. Sorry for any typos or if I left out major sections.
The property itself was great. Clean, Parking was easy for us but may be more challenging with a larger group. The apartment was laid out pretty well and manageable for my particular handicap. While not yet perfect, it’s obvious that the owners are addressing the property with a eye towards accessibility.
