Gut: Sauberkeit, Ausstattung und Zustand der Unterkunft
We recently stayed at the Catalina Canyon Inn on Catalina Island. Overall, our experience had its highlights along with a couple of disappointments. Our room was comfortable and well-kept, and we appreciated the overall cleanliness of the hotel. The bathrooms, for instance, were updated and maintained to a high standard; however, we did notice a few ants wandering around, which was a minor letdown.
The hotel is located a bit far from the pier and downtown, but the free shuttle service helps bridge that gap. The shuttle, though, only makes three stops—the heliport, the ferry terminal, and downtown—which works well enough but is somewhat limited.
Unfortunately, our experience took another downturn on our last day. We had a 5:30 PM ferry back to the mainland and, after checking out around 11 AM, requested to store a carry-on and a backpack until our departure. Despite having confirmed via phone a few days prior that this service was available, the hotel staff denied our request, citing that the hotel was full. While we understand they are not obligated to offer luggage storage, this inconsistency was frustrating and forced us to pay for lockers at the ferry terminal.
In summary, while the Catalina Canyon Inn offers comfortable accommodations and a reliable shuttle service, the ant issue in the bathrooms and the unexpected refusal to store our luggage left us with mixed feelings about returning.
